It won't let me install the mappacks in the Downloads section. I download it, but when I click on the icon to install, it says "Windows cannot open this file." because they are in .kaf format
*edit* nvm...I guess you have to download it from the matchmaker when you join a hut |

The mappacks can be automatically downloaded when you join a game, but if you want to install a mappack manually, you can place the .kaf file in the 'mappacks' directory of the matchmaker. | ||

I think it would be better if a user can make a map, and upload it directly to their matchmaker, have the preview generated, username as creator and uploader listed, and a custom description made. Then, once finished, the user can upload their map directly to other players as a .kaf file (maybe even a tool for custom compile many maps), with time created, and for that user to also be able to re-upload that to players, with the file date as a reference to see which is the newest version.
All without the need for Moderators to handle anything. This is an idea the other site would always refuse, a feature that would entice players to make more creative maps, and make the options virtually limitless. If the number of available map packs/maps in each pack becomes a problem that cannot be adjusted with the server, a "delete map" feature could be implemented, where the creator of a pack can delete a map from their .kaf and a user can delete a map pack from the list so they can download newer ones. This way, it would be up to the users which maps stay alive - not the admins, which would be a feel very different in contrast to the other site. |
