Redirect network servers

Hello all,
I have came up with an idea usually the server is down, we'll maybe we can use alternative server, like editing the hosts file and letting it redirect wargs dead servers to a alternative one? Example: dead.irc.warg.nsa.gov 123.123.12.123 the dead irc gets redirected to the 123 ip address ? i might work idk? |

lol, that might work if this client was IRC based, but it is not. Proprietary server software with proprietary protocols. I try to maintain as close to 24/7 server uptime as possible, if it's down for any extended length of time I need to be notified as that probably means there is a discrete routing problem that needs snooped out. | |
